REPAIRS TO "HIPNAUTICAL" - A GRAMPIAN 26

March 17 2010 Hipnautical Repair

St Paddy’s Day brought us to the skin refit. We installed a 10”x40” 1/8 pegboard lengthwise with another 5x36 over the top to give the final amount of raised support for the skin. Chris had chiselled the skin and it fit, so we mixed up the remainder of the resin, one full gallon went in total for this project.

We nailed the skin down where we felt it needed some support.

Looks a lot smoother and even, much improved so far!

Now to let it cure for 24 hours and then put a final bit of resin if needed.

And as a bonus I put my racing # on the mainsail today! Almost time to get her in the water!

Lily is not being a good boat dog in this picture.

It is a Discovery 79, but this is what the sailmaker gave me!

Another 2 weeks and the shed is free of sail gear.
