Absence - looking for some assistance with the site

Hi all, My professional life has become extremely busy and while it's tough right now, I'm reaping the rewards in my career and will be in an amazing spot a few years from now. I need to focus on my career for the next few years. I will continue to maintain and update the site as best I can, but my ...

Re: Grampian 2-34

Hello, apologies for the very delayed response. I don't have personal experience with that boat, but I have seen photographs of one in Tahiti - so it is obviously capable of making some very long trips. I have also seen quite a few of them in European ports. I must assume most of them were sailed th...

Re: Ontario Boat Salvage/Scrap yards

Hey Tim, not sure if you have reached out to Holland Marine about your rudder and other parts, but the owner of the shop was head of the Grampian association for years and is deeply familiar with the boats. If he doesn't have a direct line on a rudder he may know someone that does. They do have the ...

Re: Ontario Boat Salvage/Scrap yards

Afraid I have no concrete names to give, but I do see a few sailboat scrapping companies advertising 24/7 on Kijiji - you might try calling them to see if they deal in parts themselves or can refer you to yards they know of. Search for sailboat on Kijiji and you'll surely see one of their ads to hau...

Re: Boat improvements

A new genoa is a nice thing! Are you using hank-on sails or roller furling? I am a little skittish to put my hank-on Genoa up after a sudden wind shift and strong gust on a calm day last year heeled us over pretty hard. Went from no heel to rail in the water in 2 or 3 seconds. We saw the gust coming...

Re: Grampian 26 windows

Hey Tim, Try calling Holland Marine, they may still have some of the parts required to reseal the originals. If my memory isn't failing me, the frames on your boat are still OK, but the seals need to be replaced. Holland Marine still had some when I checked but it's been a while so worth calling. I ...

Re: OLIAS

That is a seriously beautiful boat!

I'm curious, was the AC all set up like that originally, or did you have it installed (Or install it yourself?) I ask because the AC breaker switch panel is the same model as what is currently in my D7.9 and in the exact same spot.

Re: Launch! Wait, what?

Hey Tim, we're going to bring her to Whitby at some point in the summer - probably late June or early July. Our slip moved a few spots closer to shore to be able to fit - going to be interesting trying to back it out of the slip with westerly winds..! Mouse: A trip down south is definitely in order ...

Launch! Wait, what?

Yo! Hope you are all having a great start to summer! Today, I launched my boat...not my Grampian, but my "big" boat, a Hullmaster 31 currently based in Belleville, Ontario. My Grampian, Lee Island will continue to undergo refitting this summer and will likely stay on the hard until next se...
